EndoAsleep - Is Apical Surgery Necessary?
Surgery may be used in diagnosis. If you have persistent symptoms but no problems appear on your x-ray, your tooth may have a tiny fracture or canal that could not be detected during nonsurgical treatment. In such a case, surgery allows Dr. Moncarz to examine the root of your tooth to identify the problem, and then to provide treatment.
Although root canal treatment is generally predictable and has a high degree of success in preventing or treating infection, certain cases fail to heal even following treatment. The tooth may become painful or diseased months or even years after successful treatment. Endodontic surgery is one option to avoid having to extract the tooth.
